Known throughout the world for being the birthplace of Giorgione, Castelfranco Veneto lives in the myth of the most extraordinary and enigmatic painter of the fifteenth century, an artist considered the mysterious genius of light and color, and of which there are very few precious works. The house that hosted this extraordinary character is now home to the Museo Casa Giorgione, which preserves the Frieze of the Liberal and mechanical Arts, the unique fresco attributed to it. The absolute best-known work of the Master is the Pala of Castelfranco that you can admire in the Cathedral of Saint Maria Assunta. Survived to the events of history, the high walls of the medieval castle, which took name from the town of Marca, are imposing and majestic, reminiscent of the battles and rivalries among the powerful towns of Padua, Vicenza and Treviso.
