Bressanone was for almost eight centuries the seat of the prince-bishops and became quite early the artistic and religious centre of Tyrol. Several monuments testify the noble past of the town: the Baroque cathedral and the Gothic cloister decorated with precious frescos. The Bishop’s Palace, the parish church of St. Michele. Finally, Castel Velturno a magnificent Renaissance castle, once used by the Prince-Bishops of Bressanone as a summer residence.
